Heerema Marine Contractors is one of the world’s leading marine construction companies for the oil and gas industry and specializes in the design, transportation, installation and removal of all types of fixed and floating offshore structures in shallow and deep water.
The Technology department is responsible for all technical preparations for the transport, installation and removal of offshore structures. The department is organized in product groups, each linked to one product-market. The products we identify are: fixed platforms, subsea infrastructure & pipelay, floating platforms, platform decommissioning & removal.

A mechanism for competence leadership is in place to ensure maintenance of the quality level and continuous development of our engineering know how and skills. Core Competence Leaders lead their competence domain over the product groups via formal networks making use of ‘contractual’ agreements with the product group managers. We identify the following core competences: structural engineering, marine engineering and mechanical engineering.

Within our organisation the Structural Engineering Core Competence entails knowledge and experience with:

• Engineering and design of steel (offshore) structures
• Pipe-lay analysis
• Finite Element Analysis
• Design of rigging
• Relevant international codes and regulations

Your daily activities:

• Monitor competence availability in all product groups and advise on measures/plans to guarantee this availability and how to improve these
• Control quality and uniformity of core competence input to tenders, projects and internal developments
• Manage communities of practice on core competence domains
• Manage the availability and development of engineering tools, efficient working methods and standards related to structural engineering
• Training and coaching of personnel on structural engineering
• Give advise to all levels of the organization regarding structural competence issues
• Be an active and respected member of the international Structural Competence community.

You have:

• a master degree in Civil, Mechanical, Maritime Engineering or equivalent
• profound experience in the area of structural engineering in relation to offshore construction
• extensive knowledge of, and experience with, know-how management processes
• Good leadership and networking skills
• A pro-active attitude
